TWO SAMPLE SONGS
1. ISAIAH 35 (4:19)
For all who walk in that way
The simple and meek and the poor in spirit
Will al be glad on that day
And all the redeemed will walk there
The ransomed of the Lord will return
They will come with singing to Zion
Everlasting joy will crown their heads
My heart had run dry I was cracked and barren
Burning deep in my soul
Thirsting for some of Your Living Water
Hoping that You’d make me whole
The desert will bloom with flowers
And water will spring up from the sand
All who love the Lord will come singing to Zion
Everlasting joy will crown their heads
So strengthen the feeble hand
Steady the knee that gives way
Let every heart in the land
Rejoice in our God
Whose mercies are new every day
And all the redeemed will walk there
The ransomed of the Lord will return
They will come with singing to Zion
Everlasting joy will crown their heads

2. HEY GOD ARE YOU TALKIN’ TO ME? (3:08)
Are you slippin’ that Gospel into my tea?
Hey God could You try to speak clear
When You’re whispering brotherhood in my ear?
I can’t make the right choice
Till I recognize Your voice
Hey God hey God hey God,
Are You talkin’ to me?
Hey God I don’t mean disrespect
If You ain’t got a dime You can call me collect
Hey God give my service a call
Maybe we could do lunch make some sense of it all
Strange things going on
When the King befriends a pawn
Hey God hey God hey God
Are You talkin’ to me?
How ‘bout a miracle how ‘bout a sign
‘Cause I’m on the road but I’m driving blind
Save all the subtlety and gentle grace
Don’t tap my shoulder Lord please slap my face

3. THE SEVENTH GAME (3:47)
With a dream that touched a million smiling faces
But today is gonna be your biggest challenge yet
Better make sure that you’re touching all the bases ‘cause
This time you’re playing for all the marbles
This time you can’t afford to lose
There’s a time to run and play
And a time to run away
Eventually there comes a time to choose One Name
So what are you gonna do
When the season/series/your whole life
Comes down to the seventh game
It’s been quite a struggle as you try to do your best
But every day it seems you’re losing ground
You’re swinging for the fences with a toothpick kid
When a sacrifice could turn this game around ’cause
CHORUS
Now you can see what you’re made of
When your back’s against the wall
The score is even now just believe ‘n’
You can win it all ‘cause
CHORUS
Yeah, what are you gonna say
When the Spirit comes to play
The seventh game

4. WHAT I THOUGHT WAS ME (4:39)
From truth I didn’t want to see
From a voice that called inside of me
And blinded by the colors
Of a world that set my heart ablaze
I traded my tomorrows for todays
And God I know You’re making me
Into all I never thought I’d be
But fool that I am like poor Lot’s wife
I turn and look back on my old life
And echoes of voices call to me
Of people and places I wanted to be
And right or wrong I sometimes miss
What I thought was me
What I thought was me
The gypsy and the dreamer
Were images I wore awhile
Clothes that all too soon went out of style
Then You held up a mirror
And I saw what You always knew
That I was really nothing without You
CHORUS
Yet I know these dreams are never real
Just whispers in my head
They don’t bleed and they can’t feel
The price You paid for me
So I take them to the Throne
And lay them at Your feet
‘Cause You’re the only strength I have
When I’m feeling weak
And echoes of voices call to me
Of people and places I wanted to be
And right or wrong I sometimes miss
What I thought was me
What I thought was me
It was never me
What I thought was me

5. FAMILY OF GOD (2:51)
We are the family of man
We have become through our Father’s Son
The seed of Abraham
Glory to God in the highest
Glory to God up above
Glory to His sweet sweet Son
Who’s filled our lives with love
Jesus keep drawin’ me nearer
Draw me closer to You
Each and every day You’re dearer
Because Your Word is true
CHORUS
Heaven is more than a daydream
It’s where we’re all headed toward
And Jesus is more than a good, good man
You know, Jesus is the Lord
Come back little children
Don’t stay in the cold
Come back brothers and sisters
Come back to the fold
CHORUS

6. JESUS ON MY BUMPER (2:51)
The preacher said to me
There’s a song of sweet repentance
Sing it in the key of Thee
I said Padre don’t you worry
Put away that righteous sword
Long ago I found religion
Now I’m looking for the Lord
I’ve got Jesus on my bumper
I’ve got Jesus in my car
Yeah He’s reigning from the dashboard
Of my ‘83 Jaguar
I’ve got Jesus in my Diehard
When I need a quick jumpstart
And who knows maybe someday
I’ll put Jesus in my heart
We need those love donations now
The TV told me true
And we’ll send this special prayer cloth
In tomorrow’s mail to you
So I sent my hard-earned money
Now I’ve got a front row pew
At The Church of the Eternal
Twenty-Six inch Picture Tube
I’ve got Jesus in my icebox
In a Jesus Jello mold
And I eat my morning cornflakes
From a “Jesus loves you” bowl
I’ve got Jesus on my jukebox
And a “good news” brush and comb
And maybe someday I’ll invite
Jesus in my home
{spoken}
Y’know, I’ve got me a Bible
With seventeen translations
From King James and American Standard
All the way down to NIV
With companion editions in Aramaic and Greek.
I’m telling you I’ve got more annotated footnotes
At my disposal
Than Planters has nuts,
All bound in beautiful Corinthian leather
With my name inscribed in 24k gold.
{end spoken}
I’ve got all this Jesus stuff
And I hope that it’s enough
I’ve got Jesus on my bumper
I’ve got Jesus in my car
Yeah He’s reigning from the dashboard
Of my ‘83 Jaguar
I’ve got Jesus in my Diehard
When I need a quick jumpstart
And who knows maybe someday
I’ll put Jesus in my heart
Yeah, who know—maybe one day
I’ll ask Jesus in my heart

7. LET ME BE YOUR EYES (3:27)
A simple solitary shining star
So when the world held up its mirror
You gladly bought the lie
That beauty’s how you look not who you are
You studied all your lines and got the part down
But you could never win your own applause
Hey don’t you know by now
You’re a diamond in My sight
And My love will see you through the flaws
When the world has you believin’
All its superficial lies
Let Me be let Me be
Your eyes
In your heart the scars run tough and tender
From all the inner battles you’ve been through
So when you look to your reflection and it’s hard for you to see
Then Baby count on Me to look for you
CHORUS
I’m gonna paint a picture you can believe
I’m gonna teach you how to see
That the truest mirror of all
Is found in the eyes of Love
CHORUS

8. IMPROBABLE PEOPLE FOR IMPOSSIBLE TASKS (3:50)
When God said Moses look my way
You got to travel home and tell Pharaoh
Let my people go oh no
Let my people go
Well Moses looked at the Lord and His burning brows
And he should have known the Big Guy meant business now
Instead he said my tongue is dull and slow
And man I’m really old oh no!
God I’m truly old!
Moses don’t you know that you’re a cosmic bore
What you listing all your limitations for?
I made your mouth I made your tongue
And I know you’re far from young
I want Improbable people for impossible tasks
Don’t assume I haven’t gathered all the facts
Just trust that I’ll help you through all that I ask
Improbable people for impossible tasks
She was a couple of years shy of the century mark
And Sarah never ever even seen a stork
When God said from you because I’m King
Israel will spring I’m King
Israel will spring
Now Sarah looked at the Lord as though he were daft
Me changing diapers that’s crazy she laughed
My body’s barren, my wrinkles won’t quit
And Abe would have a fit that’s it
Abe would have a fit
Sarah don’t you know the power of your Lord
What you listing all your limitations for?
I know your begetting days are through
And that’s why I picked you
Chorus
There’s no one so humble who can’t hear His words
God’s touched executives and called upon nerds
He uses the blind and comes out of the blue
So don’t be surprised if someday He calls on you
CHORUS

9.THERE’S A TABLE WAITING (3:22)
I was sure I would be true
But You knew how far I had to grow
From the old man to the new
Even now I struggle
As Your Spirit sets me free
But You’ll redeem the tears between
What I am and hope to be ’cause
There’s a table waiting
Every chair in place
Stretching ‘cross eternity
For all who run the race
There’s a table waiting
I can see the silver shine
Where every earthly sorrow
Becomes Heaven’s sweetest wine
Time betrays my body
But You keep my spirit new
As You strip away my mortal skin
And cleanse me through and through
And all the lame and blind ones
Every broken-hearted soul
Whoever turns their eyes to You
Will be healed and made whole ’cause
CHORUS
Yes, there’s a table waiting
The invitation’s grace
Faith can make you worthy
To look upon His face
Faith can make you worthy
To look upon His face

10. COME AND FOLLOW ME (2:45)
All your hopes and dreams fallen through
I’m calling you
Come and follow Me
Though your heart has cried endlessly
Lay your net aside, leave the sea
Now you’re free
To come and follow Me
I promise you sunshine
To guide you through the pain
You’ll see My best colors
Every time it rains
There’s a rocky road up ahead
Drop your load and I’ll be your bed
I’ll cover you and others who
Follow Me
Break My bread tonight when you sup
Drink the wine and I’ll fill you up
Take from My cup the strength you need
To follow Me
CHORUS
Though your heart has cried endlessly
Lay your net aside, leave the sea
Now you’re free
To come and follow Me

PURCHASE
The album project Hey God, Are You Talkin’ To Me? began with one song, Improbable People for Impossible Tasks. This was the tune that garnered Moishe Rosen’s attention and caused him to fund the album. Hey God… is a collection of early songs Michael and Sally wrote together as they were each exploring their faith, along with one outside cut from friend and fellow-songwriter, Janice Rossine Crawford. The songs range from the tongue-in-cheek Jesus On My Bumper to the passionate, soul-searching What I Thought Was Me. An eclectic collection of thoughts and music that reflect the questions and testimonies of young believers grappling with what it means to truly follow Jesus.
