Improbable People Ministries
OVERVIEW
It is our desire to present how God has touched our lives in the hope of reaching others, with His Love, through our songs and testimonies. It is also our hope to be an encouragement to the Body of Believers (Hebrews 3:12-13) as well as a light to the lost (John 3:16).
We believe the Lord is using our songs and stories to bring healing to the hearts of many. We also see a stronger aspect of evangelism, which we did not originally envision, making itself apparent. It is our desire to remain accessible to the non-believers and seekers that they may be able to hear about God’s love in a unique and personal way.
Our ministry falls under the heading of three categories:
• Concerts
• Recordings
• Printed Materials
These are the primary avenues of expression we use to share the insights we believe the Lord has put on our hearts.
We believe we are some of the “foolish things” which God uses to shame the wise (1 Corinthians 1:27). Therefore, we do not seek to display ourselves with power or might but, empowered by the Spirit we hope to present simply and articulately, in story and song, how God really changes lives. (2 Corinthians 4:7). In representing ourselves as unlikely vessels that God is using, we hope to encourage others like ourselves to give themselves over to God and allow Him to use them. It is our hope that the Lord uses us in His Body to “stir up the Spirit” amongst those whose hearts have grown cold. (2 Corinthians 2: 15-17)
We desire to share our gifts in as many congregations, prisons, schools, and other venues as will have us. We wish to be recognized as a non-denominational ministry, making us accessible to all denominations. (Ephesians 4:11-13)
DOCTRINAL STATEMENT OF BELIEF
We believe there is only one true and living God, infinitely perfect, existing eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 5:48, Matthew 28:19)
We believe Jesus the Christ is true God and true man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. He died upon the cross, the Just for the unjust, as an atonement for mankind’s sin, and all who believe in Him are justified on the ground of His shed blood. He rose from the dead according to the Scriptures and ascended into Heaven where He sits at the right hand of Majesty on high, interceding for us as our great High Priest. He will come again to establish His kingdom, righteousness, and peace. (Philippians 2:6-11, Like 1:34-38, 1 Peter 3:18, Hebrews 2:9, Romans 5:9, Acts 2:23-24, Hebrews 8:1, Matthew 26:64)
The Holy Spirit is a divine person, sent to dwell, guide, teach, and empower the believer and convince the world of sin, righteousness, and judgement. (John 14:15-18, John 16: 13, Acts 8:1, John 16:7-11)
We believe in the Divine Inspiration, inerrancy and authority of the Old and New Testaments. (2 Timothy 3:16-17, 2 Peter 1:21)
We believe Man was originally created in the image and likeness of God: he fell through disobedience, incurring, thereby, both physical and spiritual death. As a result, all men are born with a sinful nature, are separated from the life of God, and can be saved only through faith in the atoning work of the Lord Jesus, who is the Christ. (Genesis 1:27, Romans 3:23, 1 Corinthians 15:20-23)
We believe it is the will of God that each believer should be filled with the Holy Spirit, be sanctified wholly on an ongoing basis, being separated from sin and the world, and fully dedicated to the will of God, thereby receiving power for holy living and effective service. (1 Thessalonians 5:23, Acts 1:8)
We believe The Body consists of all those who believe that Jesus is the Christ and are redeemed through His blood and are born again of the Holy Spirit. Jesus is the Head of the Body, which has been commissioned by Him to go into all the world as a witness, preaching the Gospel to all nations. The local congregation is a body of believers in Jesus the Christ, who are joined together in worship of God, for edification through the Word of God, for prayer, fellowship, the proclamation of the Gospel and ordinances of Baptism and the Lord’s Supper. (Ephesians 1:22-23, Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 2:41-47)
We believe there will be a bodily resurrection of the just and the unjust; for the former, a resurrection to life; for the latter, a resurrection to judgement. (1 Corinthians 15:20-23, John 5:28-29)
We believe that Jesus the Messiah will return personally in order to consummate the prophesied purposes concerning His Kingdom. This is the believer’s blessed hope and is a vital truth, which is an incentive to holy living and faithful service. (Acts 1:6-8, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-18, Acts 5: 14-17, 2 Thessalonians 2:3-8, Zechariah 14:9, Amos 9:15, Ezekiel 34:28, Titus 2:11-14)
