We were young, although not as young as many. There was some seasoning in our years. But we still foolishly believed the lines of the Captain and Tennille’s hit song of the 70s, Love Will Keep Us Together.
Never mind that both of us came from broken marriages. Never mind that both our families were quite dysfunctional in different ways as we grew up. Never mind that I was married at 17 for less than a year, before I graduated high school. Never mind that I was an agnostic Jew, and you were a lapsed Catholic. Never mind that you adored baseball and I didn’t. Never mind that you had major tactile issues with sand at the beach, my absolute favorite place in the world.
